Director Fredrik Gertten was in Paris, France today to accept the Talents du Vélo award, an annual award given to an individual who has contributed to the promotion of daily cycling. The competitors are assessed on the exemplarity of the work they provide and on their commitment in regards to sustainable mobility and citizenship. The award is presented by Le Club des villes et territoires cyclables.
From the jury: "The Gold award is a very special award. It is meant to highlight and honor a project the jury considered especially relevant in regards to the purpose of promoting cycling as a daily mode of transport. Fredrik Gertten was chosen as the award's recipient based on the importance of his documentary, Bikes vs Cars, which we believe addresses critical issues, such as the power of the lobbyists in the car industry. The jury appreciated, among other qualities, the film's accuracy, its cinematography and the original music composition."
The 2016’s edition of Talents du Vélo is organized in partnership with ADEME, Altinnova, UNIVELO, FING and the association des maires Ville et banlieue.
